heterosexism and heterocentrism
I just did the assignment on heterosexism and heterocentrism. Before I attended GMU, I never really thought about any of these topics. I grew up in a small town and no one really talked about gay men and lesbians. It was taboo. Coming to Mason I feel as though I am becoming less and less heterocentric and have lost my heterosexist bias. I am totally stoked for the guest speakers in class tomorrow. I belive the world is constantly changing and evolving. More and more things are becoming accepted in the public eye. Whether or not the rest of the world chooses to accept homosexuality, which I think is for fear that others will perceive them as homosexual, I do accept it. I am heterosexual, but I also believe everyone has a right to express themselves and no one's views, opinions, feelings, or natural emotions and attractions should be shunned or demeanored.
The videos last class were enlightening. I am really enjoying the personal growth that I am gaining in this class. I am beginning to wonder more and more why one would be against gaining knowledge of human sexual health.
